Hochiki Ekho hybrid wireless fire detection — wireless sensors, call points, sounders and modules that join your addressable fire alarm loop through a single Translator, with no cabling to the field devices. Surveyed, installed and programmed by Hochiki-trained engineers.
Ekho is a hybrid system: a Translator module is wired into the loop of an addressable fire alarm panel, and every sensor, call point, sounder and module beyond it communicates by radio. The panel sees each wireless device as a normal loop address, so alarms, faults and outputs are managed exactly as on a wired system.
Where cabling is difficult, disruptive or impractical — occupied buildings, finished interiors, extensions to an existing system — wireless devices cut installation time and disruption. Expanders extend coverage and form a self-configuring mesh, so every device always has a path back to the panel.
Wireless devices are not tied to a single Expander. Each one continuously picks the strongest signal path back to the Translator — and if an Expander loses power or its signal is blocked, devices switch to the next-best path automatically.
Mesh operation needs two or more Expanders. Capacities depend on loop capacity and local standards.
*Ranges are measured in open air, as is standard for radio systems. Inside buildings the range is shorter and depends on the construction, which is why every project starts with a radio survey. Panel compatibility with the Ekho (ESP) protocol is confirmed before specifying.
Ekho connects to ESP-protocol addressable panels. We confirm your panel’s compatibility first, then add wireless devices without new cabling.
